About Us
New Directions is our mentoring programme for young people at risk of offending or social exclusion in Medway.
Our volunteer mentors work alongside young people referred by Medway's Integrated Prevention Service to help the young people:
- Develop positive values and goals
- Obtain key life skills
- Make effective and informed choices not to offend/re offend or commit anti social behaviour
- Actively seek and commit to other activities as part of an exit trategy to sustain the work
- Actively take part in education
The mentor meets with their mentee once a week over for an agreed period of time and will spend 1-3 hours a week working on the agreed goals/objectives. The mentor will offer advice and support; signpost the young person to appropriate activities and opportunities; and act as a positive adult role model.
This year, we have successfully mentored 40 young people towards positive outcomes.
